Financial education studio setting

Din Daeng, Bangkok · Est. 2019

A studio for patient financial thinking.

Nakhon Advisors was built around a simple conviction: adults who can read their own financial documents are better placed to make decisions calmly, without relying on others to interpret their situation.

How Nakhon Advisors began

The studio grew out of a series of informal reading groups held in a rented room near Ratchadaphisek Road in 2019. The founder, who had spent fifteen years working in corporate finance in Bangkok, noticed that many well-educated adults in their forties and fifties struggled not with the concepts behind money — but with the language in which financial documents are written.

Annual reports, provident fund statements, pension summaries — these documents are designed by organisations for organisations. Reading them as an individual, without a background in accounting or finance, can feel disorienting. The reading groups were an attempt to change that, one page at a time.

By 2021, those informal sessions had become structured programmes with printed materials and a small-cohort format. Today, Nakhon Advisors offers three programmes from our studio in Din Daeng, each designed to build a specific reading or planning skill. We are not a financial advisory firm. We do not manage money. We teach people how to read the documents that describe their financial lives.

What we stand for

Patience over urgency

We do not believe in financial pressure. Sessions move at the pace of the group. Nobody is expected to decide anything on the day.

Clarity over complexity

Financial language can obscure as much as it reveals. Our facilitators work to translate — not to impress with jargon.

Independence over dependency

We want participants to leave needing us less, not more. The goal is always for individuals to read and reason for themselves.

How We Work

The standards we hold ourselves to in designing and delivering each programme.

No conflicts of interest

Our facilitators hold no securities licences, accept no referral fees, and do not represent any financial institution. Content is shaped entirely by what participants need to understand.

Participant data protection

Contact details and personal information shared during enquiry or enrolment are held securely and used only for programme administration. We do not share data with third parties.

Prepared, structured sessions

Every session follows a written plan reviewed before each cohort. Materials are checked for accuracy against current Thai regulatory documents and SET publications.

Participant feedback review

Written feedback is collected at the close of each programme. We review it before each new cohort and update session plans accordingly.

Cohort size limits enforced

We cap each cohort at twelve. When a programme fills, we open a waitlist for the next scheduled cohort rather than expanding group size.

Clear scope boundaries

If a participant's question falls outside our scope — specific investment advice, tax planning, legal matters — we say so clearly and suggest appropriate resources rather than improvising.

Financial education in Bangkok for adults 40+

Adults who have spent two or three decades managing a household, building a career, and saving through provident funds arrive at their forties with real financial complexity — and often with limited practice reading the documents that describe it. Nakhon Advisors occupies a specific space: between financial advisory services on one side and general personal-finance media on the other.

Our programmes draw on long-standing financial literacy literature and on the particular context of Thailand — the Stock Exchange of Thailand's disclosure requirements, the Government Pension Fund, the Social Security Fund, and the household saving patterns studied by Thai researchers over the past two decades. We work in English and with Thai terminology where it matters.

Participants in our programmes have included retired civil servants, business owners winding down their working involvement, mid-career professionals approaching retirement planning for the first time, and adults who have recently come into responsibility for a family estate. What they share is a wish to understand — not to be told what to do, but to read clearly for themselves.
